Influential Management Publication Says 'Be Like Assurance, Choose a Theme'

SCHAUMBURG, IL (June 2, 2008) – Manager’s Edge, a monthly newsletter for CEOs and other business leaders, recently encouraged its readers to be like Assurance and choose an employee theme for the year. The publication noted that, “Choosing a song can reinforce the culture you want to create.”

Published by the Briefings Publishing Group, Manager’s Edge provides advice on how to be a superior and dynamic manager. It features real-world examples to encourage professionals to be great communicators, super motivators, extraordinary leaders, motivational managers, and boost productivity.

The article described how Assurance chose “Everybody Have Fun Tonight” by Wang Chung for its theme in 2007. The article quoted Steven Handmaker, Vice President, Marketing and Communications as saying “We know it’s a terrible song, but it said something fun about our quirkiness and our culture.” In 2008, the Assurance employee theme shifted to “We Can Be Heroes,” inspired in part by the David Bowie song “Heroes”.

“Wang Chung was really about having a good time and enjoying life every day,” notes Anthony Chimino, President and CEO of Assurance. “We Can Be Heroes” speaks more directly to remind us of all the ways we can serve our clients, our community, our families and each other.”
