Assurance to Aid Eight Children Through a Forty-Three Thousand Dollar Donation to Make-A-Wish Foundation

Schaumburg, IL (January 18, 2012) - On Thursday, January 19, Assurance will help the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Illinois get one step closer to reaching its goal of providing 800 local children with life-changing experiences by presenting a check for $43,250 at Assurance’s Schaumburg, IL office, just outside of Chicago. The donation is a result of a third place finish at the 2011 Chubb Charity Challenge in Naples, FL, which brings together insurance agents, brokers and customers throughout the U.S. each to year to raise money for charity. Assurance, one of the fifty largest insurance brokers of U.S. business, was one of only fifty teams nationally competing and one of two teams who qualified from the Chicago area to raise funds for a charity of choice.

Make-A-Wish Foundation® is a partner of the Assurance Caring Together (ACT) program – an employee-driven committee that plans and executes labor and monetary donations to dozens of charitable organizations annually. ACT worked with Assurance event participants to determine an appropriate charity partner to represent at the Chubb Charity Challenge. After careful deliberation, it was decided that Make-A-Wish Foundation® would be the perfect organization, as its mission to inspire hope, strength and joy back into the lives of children within the community is closely aligned with the core principles of the ACT Committee.

“From the very beginning, our committee has maintained a wonderful relationship with Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Illinois, and we are ecstatic that our company, through the Chubb Charity Challenge, was able to raise a substantial amount of money to make an even larger impact for children in the communities where we live and work,” stated Jordan Shea, ACT Chair.

Employees David Suchomski (Chief Financial Officer), Troy Stanton (Senior Vice President), Doug Nelson (Principal) and Assurance client Barry Brave of General Truck Parts, all competed in the tournament and will be on hand to present the check that was a culmination of their third place finish last October. Jeremy Winter, Senior Vice President and Illinois Branch Manager of the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies will also participate in making the check presentation.

“We are very grateful to have the support of Assurance. With the funds raised by the company, we will be able to grant the wishes of eight children,” stated Beth Murnane, Gift Officer for Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Illinois. She continued, “This is an extraordinary gift that helps us to fulfill our mission in difficult economic times.”
