Assurance Volunteers Team with Aspire to Improve Community Homes in Chicagoland
Schaumburg, IL (August 30, 2012) - On August 23, 2012, employees from Assurance – the second largest independent insurance brokerage in Illinois – spent the day volunteering at Aspire, a human service nonprofit in west suburban Chicago. Aspire provides assistance in helping those with developmental disabilities achieve their highest potential while also providing support for their families.
Assurance Caring Together (ACT) volunteers arrived at one of Aspire’s community homes eager to assist with making the living environment nicer and more enjoyable for the residents. Volunteers ended up painting 6 bedrooms, 2 kitchens and 2 hallways. They were also involved with taping off certain edges, moving furniture and cleaning. Aspire’s community houses provide a home for participants where they can develop their interests and skills.
“It was great to give back to an organization who does so much in helping people of all ages with developmental disabilities,” said Kellee Janus, Account Manager in the Employee Benefits division. She continued, “Just one day of work can mean the world of difference to local nonprofits and the great people with which they serve.”
Under the motto “we can be heroes,” Assurance employees have donated over 10,500 labor hours in a 7 year span through volunteer opportunities organized by ACT. Aspire is one of over 15 events scheduled for this year. To find more information about Aspire, or to find additional volunteer opportunities, visit www.aspireofillinois.org.
