Building a Best Place to Work Culture in Three Steps
According to Gallup, 69% of employees are currently not engaged in their work or are actively disengaged. What are you doing to motivate current employees and help your staffing company refrain from high turnover costs?

1. Create a plan for personally connecting with employees. The number one rated driver for engagement is the extent to which employees believe their senior management has a sincere interest in their well-being. One way to accomplish this is by helping employees set goals and rewarding individual achievement with things they care about.
Additional Idea: Have a member of the executive team call employees on their birthday and/or anniversary.
2. Establish a shared vision. Showcase the meaning of work and how each employee’s outcome contributes to the greater cause of the company.
Additional Idea: At Assurance, employees can send out electronic high-fives (thank you notes) to other coworkers. Each employee has to send out 12 throughout the year in order for everyone to get a small bonus. It helps demonstrate appreciation, improve mood, encourage engagement and showcase how everyone is working together to accomplish the company’s vision.
3. Realize there’s no copy and paste when it comes to your culture. Everything must be customized to your employee base and what engages employees with your company strategy. The best way to accomplish this is through internal focus groups and surveys with all levels of the organization.
Additional Idea: Encourage employees to submit business process and culture improvement ideas. Provide a small reward for submitting (e.g. $5 gift card; free coffee) and report on ideas that have been implemented.
