Schaumburg, IL (July 17, 2012) - On July 11, 2012, over 20 employees from Assurance – a Top 50 U.S. Insurance Brokerage located just outside of Chicago and St. Louis – volunteered with the Special Olympics of Illinois for their annual tennis tournament. With 200 excited athletes participating in the event, there was plenty of support among Assurance volunteers and many other local, charity-focused organizations.

Assurance volunteers spent the day contributing to the various tennis stations by keeping score, throwing tennis balls for participants to hit, shagging balls and keeping coolers stocked with water. They also assisted with the awards ceremony and were able to spend a great deal of time socializing with the participants

"I had an amazing time interacting outdoors with the Special Olympic athletes,” said Natalie Breymeyer, Senior Client Services Representative at Assurance. She continued, "Volunteering our time to this organization was a very rewarding experience, and it was great to see how happy all of the kids were when receiving their awards.”

Under the motto "We Can Be Heroes”, Assurance employees have donated over 10,500 labor hours through volunteer opportunities organized by the company's Assurance Caring Together (ACT) committee. This is the eighth consecutive year that ACT has endorsed and sent volunteers for the Special Olympics. For 2012, the ACT committee has planned 15 events whereby each of the company's 250 employees can receive one paid day to volunteer.
