Schaumburg, IL (October 30, 2012) - On October 18, 2012, Assurance spent time supporting our troops by sending numerous volunteers to join the Yellow Ribbon Support Group for the day. The Yellow Ribbon Support Group, started by Pat and Mac McCoy, is an organization dedicated to helping the military forces deployed overseas through letters and wish list packages. To date, the Yellow Ribbon Support Group has sent over 24,000 packages to troops.

Assurance Caring Together (ACT) volunteers spent their time carefully assembling 55 care packages. They also prepped items, such as magazines and personal hygiene products that will go into other packages. The group then assembled customs forms and mailing boxes. As a send-off gift, Assurance donated a $500 check for the shipping costs of the packages.

"This is the second year in a row I have volunteered for the Yellow Ribbon Support Group. Until the last soldier comes home, I will continue to volunteer my time and support this group,” said Julie Sartori, an Account Manager at Assurance.

Under the motto "We Can Be Heroes,” Assurance employees have donated over 10,500 labor hours in a seven year span through volunteer opportunities organized by ACT. The Yellow Ribbon Support Group is one of over 15 events scheduled for this year.
