Schaumburg, IL (October 12, 2012) - On October 4, 2012, several employees from Assurance spent the day volunteering at Clearbrook in Elk Grove, Illinois. Serving more than 160 communities throughout Chicago and the surrounding suburbs, Clearbrook provides innovative opportunities and support for more than 3,400 children and adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities each year.

Assurance Caring Together (ACT) volunteers got to work painting a home for four residents of Clearbrook. At the end of the day, three bedrooms and one common area were completed to brighten up the home and make it more welcoming for the residents.

"I was happy to give my time and hard work for adults who cannot as easily perform the same manual tasks on their own,” said Victoria Perna, Account Manager at Assurance. She continued, "Clearbrook serves a wonderful purpose, and it felt great to give back to the organization any way we could."

Under the motto "We Can Be Heroes,” Assurance employees have donated over 10,500 labor hours in a seven year span through volunteer opportunities organized by ACT. Clearbrook is one of over 15 events scheduled for this year. To find more information or volunteer opportunities, visit www.clearbrook.org.
