Schaumburg, IL (May 25, 2012) - On Thursday, May 17, representatives from Assurance's Human Resources and Marketing departments attended The Daily Herald Business Ledger's Best Places to Work in Illinois awards ceremony held at the Hyatt Hotel in Lisle, Illinois. During the ceremony, the top 50 employer rankings were revealed with Assurance taking 2nd place in its category of small/medium-sized companies. Radio Flyer – a local toy manufacturer known for the little red wagon – earned this year's top spot. This marks the fifth consecutive year Assurance has been recognized by The Daily Herald Business Ledger for being a Best Place to Work in Illinois. The statewide survey and awards program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Illinois and distinguish their role in furthering the state's economy and workforce.
The 2012 list is comprised of 31 companies in the small/medium-sized category (15-249 U.S. employees) and 19 companies in the large-sized list (250+ U.S. employees). Employee engagement scores were tabulated by the Chicago-area newspaper based on employee survey feedback. The 50 Best Places to Work in Illinois came in at an average of 93% for employee engagement. This is outstanding compared to the national average, which has been reported as low as 31%. Based on data gathered from previous award competitions, Assurance's average employee engagement score tops the charts at 96%.
"Engaged employees are happy employees, and happy employees produce better results for our clients,” stated Steven Handmaker, Chief Marketing Officer at Assurance. He continued, "While we were hoping for a three-peat this year, the top spot couldn't have gone to a more deserving company.”
Assurance was ranked alongside clients J.C. Restoration, Inc., Rose Paving Company, Skender Construction and VNA Health Care. The full ranking of the top 50 employers in Illinois will be published in The Daily Herald Business Ledger later this month.
