Schaumburg, IL (April 25, 2012) - In recognition of Assurance's outstanding volunteer efforts within the local Chicago community, and specifically with Shelter, Inc., the Top 50 U.S. brokerage has been awarded an Honorable Mention for the 2012 Impact Awards hosted by HandsOn Suburban Chicago. Each year, HandsOn Suburban Chicago seeks out volunteers who deserve special acknowledgement for the positive impact they made on the lives of others. Assurance's charitable efforts administered through its Assurance Caring Together (ACT) program was rewarded with the Community Champion Impact Honorable Mention.
Assurance was nominated for the award by Erin Tamms who is a Volunteer Coordinator at Shelter, Inc. – a nonprofit that provides emergency housing for children and adolescents. Over the course of six years, ACT has donated over $39,000 to Shelter, Inc., as well as packed book bags filled with school supplies for every child in the shelter's care. During the holiday season, Assurance also participates in their wish list program during the holidays to fulfill a child's gift wish.

The ACT Committee's Chair and Co-Chair – Jordan Shea (Senior Account Manager) and Heather Hodgerson (Account Manager) – were on hand at the 2012 Impact Awards Volunteer Recognition Reception on Thursday, April 19 to accept the award on Assurance's and the ACT Committee's behalf.
