Who: Several Assurance employees spent a paid day off from work being Santa’s volunteers at the North Pole. Assurance Caring Together charity partner, Operation North Pole, is a volunteer-based public charity. Their mission is to work with Chicago’s major children’s hospitals, providing a day of fun and fantasy for families who have a child battling a life-threatening illness by hosting a fantasy trip to the North Pole.
What: Assurance staff volunteered after the event to help re-convert the North Pole. Their efforts cut in half what would normally be a two-day process by:
- Deconstructing, packing into boxes and moving 175 Christmas trees to be loaded onto semi-trucks
- Folding and packing 180 floor-to-ceiling curtains
- Filling 30 large trash bags with snow
When: Monday, December 11, 2017
Where: Des Plaines, IL
Why: The volunteer opportunity is one of 18 similar events scheduled for 2017 where Assurance employees donate their time to deserving nonprofit organizations. All volunteer days are organized by the company’s employee-driven charitable foundation, Assurance Caring Together (ACT). Assurance employees have donated over 20,000 labor hours in the last 12 years through ACT.
