Who: Assurance team members spent a paid day off from work being Santa’s volunteers at the North Pole. Assurance Caring Together charity partner, Operation North Pole, is a volunteer-based public charity. Their mission is to work with Chicago’s major children’s hospitals, providing a day of fun and fantasy for families who have a child living with a life-threatening illness by hosting a fantasy trip to the North Pole.
What: Assurance staff volunteered after the event to help re-convert the North Pole. Their efforts cut in half what would normally be a two-day process by:
- Deconstructing over 27,500 sq. ft. of space
- Filling over 20 large trash bags with snow
- Deconstructing, packing into boxes and moving 100 Christmas trees to be loaded onto semi-trucks
- Folding and packing 100 floor-to-ceiling curtains
When: Monday, December 17, 2018
Where: Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, Rosemont, IL
Why: The volunteer opportunity is one of 21 similar events scheduled for 2018 where Assurance employees donate their time to deserving nonprofit organizations. All volunteer days are organized by the company’s employee-driven charitable foundation, Assurance Caring Together (ACT). Assurance employees have donated over 22,000 labor hours in the last 13 years through ACT.
