Schaumburg, IL (August 13, 2014) - For the fifth year in a row, Assurance – an independent insurance brokerage – is being honored by the American Staffing Association (ASA) for its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. The Care Award distinguishes outstanding corporate charitable initiatives among ASA member companies, associate members and affiliated chapters. Assurance received honorable mention in the associate member category due in large part to its employee-run Assurance Caring Together (ACT) program.
The mission of ACT is to "inspire hope in local communities by becoming actively involved and developing meaningful partnerships with charitable organizations." After almost ten years of giving back, ACT is now considered one of the cornerstones of Assurance and its culture. The results obtained in a relatively short amount of time have been extraordinary. Here are just a handful of achievements since 2005:
- 90% of Assurance employees take their paid day off to volunteer every year
- 14,500 labor hours donated
- $110,000+ donated by Assurance employees, as well as their friends and family, towards an educational scholarship fund
- 250,000 pounds of food packed for Food Banks in Illinois and St. Louis
- 58 wishes and small miracles granted through Make-A-Wish Foundation and Bear Necessities
- 36 charity drives
- 11 consecutive tennis tournaments managed for the Illinois Special Olympics
