Schaumburg, Ill. (October 13, 2015) – As part of its annual wellness initiatives, Assurance – a Top 50 U.S. insurance brokerage – held a company 5K in Busse Woods on October 3, 2015. While Assurance has hosted its own 5K for employees and their family and friends in the past, this year’s race had a personal connection. The race was in honor of Guy Jacobucci, a senior vice president at Assurance who suddenly passed away last month.
On October 3, over 307 employees and their family members participated in the race. Since Guy loved feeding people, this year’s 5K also included a collection of non-perishable items for a food pantry in his hometown of Palatine, Illinois. Hundreds of food items were donated in his honor.
“We’re used to employees being passionate about our annual 5K, but this year’s race really hit close to home,” said Jackie Gould, COO of Assurance. “We’re in awe of how many people came out and paid tribute to Guy; his fun-loving approach to life, food and wellness was definitely celebrated.”
Assurance’s dedication to promoting a healthy lifestyle is a natural extension of the insurance brokerage’s culture and commitment to minimizing risk and maximizing health. This is the third year the company utilized a 5K as part of their Shared Success program, which provides monetary bonuses for individual and company-wide accomplishments. Replacing outdated walking challenges, Assurance’s 5K has proven quite popular with employees. In 2013, 93 percent of employees completed the 5K Challenge.
Assurance is among the largest and most awarded independent insurance brokerages in the U.S. A “Top 50” broker and repeated national “Best Place to Work” winner, Assurance creates value by minimizing risk and maximizing health for 6,000 businesses and individuals across the country.
