Schaumburg, Ill. (October 16, 2017) —Assurance, a Top 50 U.S. insurance brokerage, has been honored for its charitable endeavors by the American Staffing Association (ASA) for the seventh time. The ASA Care Award is a national program that recognizes outstanding corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives (i.e. business processes that produce an overall positive effect on society) among ASA member staffing firms, associate members and affiliated chapters.
Assurance won in the associate member category for its Assurance Caring Together (ACT) program. ACT’s mission is to “inspire hope in local communities by becoming actively involved and developing meaningful partnerships with charitable organizations.” After 12 years, ACT is now considered one of the cornerstones of Assurance and its culture. The results obtained in a relatively short amount of time have been extraordinary. Here are just a handful of achievements since 2005:
- 90% of Assurance employees take their paid day off to volunteer every year
- 20,000+ labor hours provided to local organizations
- $750,000 donated to charity partners nominated by Assurance employees
- $130,000+ donated by Assurance employees, as well as their friends and family, towards an educational scholarship fund
“When you break it down, the number of volunteer hours equates to two straight years of 24-hour service to the local community,” said Diane Poljak, senior vice president and staffing practice leader at Assurance. She continued, “It’s an impressive feat, and we’re honored that ASA has recognized us and continues to promote corporate social responsibility among the industry.”
ASA Care Award winners were celebrated at Staffing World 2017, the ASA convention and expo, Oct. 24-26 in Chicago, IL. A panel of CSR experts select the winners for initiatives involving employee training and professional development, community engagement, “green” business practices, philanthropy and more.
